Toyota Teases New Car: Could This Be the 2025 Camry?

2025 Toyota Camry, is that you?

Toyota kicked off Thursday morning with the shadowy teaser you see above. The accompanying press release is so short it wouldn’t even qualify as a haiku: “Can you guess what’s on the horizon?” The image is titled “A New Dawn.”

Whatever it is, it’s sure shaped like a car and not an SUV, of which Toyota will have nine of when the Land Cruiser arrives next year. Even dropping the image into Photoshop for some level adjustments doesn’t reveal much beyond that, however. We see a Prius-like daytime running lamp (DRL) signature, seeming slightly more in-board within the headlight units. And that’s about it.

Why do we suspect Camry? It’s the oldest car in the portfolio, with the current generation launching for the 2018 model year. The Camry has also resisted the switch to the brand’s latest infotainment, something only it and the 4Runner have in common. It’s time for a new mid-sized sedan.

If this is indeed the new Camry, it will be interesting to see how it slots into the lineup. Here in 2023, the Prius and Crown have sandwiched the traditional best-seller: the former is newly sexy, while the latter brings a unique, raised shape—even if it offers fractionally less interior space than the Camry.

With the Los Angeles auto show on the horizon, we expect to know more details about this shadowy car in the future. Stay tuned for more details.
