Over the past year, we’ve seen several efforts by body shops to transform a Dodge Challenger into a modern take on the classic muscle cars that started it all. Most notably, it is changing a current Challenger into a 1970s Charger. While that’s cool, we have yet to see anyone create a modern-day Plymouth ‘Cuda out of a Hellcat Redeye Challenger until now.

Dodge Challenger Plymouth Cuda Retromod: Details

According to the Mecum listing, this 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye transformed into a modern 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda surfaced at Mecum’s upcoming Kissimmee auction as Lot S220 and features carbon fiber bodywork. It has also received a paint job to match the original and beautiful four-stage candy purple livery. A 797 horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and LX platform from the 2022 Charger Hellcat Redeye is underneath the purple paintwork, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Performance remains unchanged from the stock vehicle, though the car does boast lowered suspension and Hotchkiss sway bars.

The bodywork was hand-formed from pre-preg carbon fiber and then cured in an autoclave. The grille is CNC machined from billet 6061 aluminum and is a complete-fledged callback to the original car. Finally, at the back, the center-exit exhaust is a beautiful touch that perfectly finishes the exterior of the modern Plymouth Cuda, as for the interior that’s almost entirely stock, minus the purple-tinted carbon fiber inlays and a Hurst shift lever. The door panels are suede-wrapped, and the headliner has been retrofitted with fiber optic lighting in the shape of the Hellcat logo.

This fetching 2022 Dodge Challenger turned Plymouth Cuda is expected to sell at the auction for between $375,000 and $425,000 early next month. But don’t fret, as a second one will also go on sale; if you have that kind of money lying around, why not buy the set?
