VinFast VF Wild Pickup Truck

Up until now, VinFast had no pickup truck in its stable of vehicles. That ended when the company unveiled its first pickup truck at CES 2024. It’s a mid-size pickup called VF Wild.

VinFast VF Wild Draws Design Inspiration from a Superhero’s Cape

VinFast, Vietnam’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, and the Australian design studio GoMotiv collaborated to develop the VF Wild. A team of designers dedicated over 8,000 hours to create its distinctive “Fluid Dynamism” aesthetic. It draws inspiration from the flowing motion of a superhero’s cape in the wind. The name “Wild” symbolizes “the force of nature,” reflecting the brand’s commitment to breaking boundaries and moving beyond, while also signifying its ongoing dedication to a green future. The VF Wild concept showcases the company’s endeavors to craft a pickup truck with outstanding performance. It targets the new generation of consumers seeking a blend of innovation and eco-friendliness, while ensuring top-notch performance and durability.

A Mid-Size Pickup with a Mid-Gate

The VF Wild falls into the mid-size pickup category with an overall length of 209 inches and a width of 79 inches. Its dimensions contribute to an efficiently packaged mid-size footprint. The vehicle features a flexible bed size, incorporating the practicality of a power-folding mid-gate. This design allows for a class-leading bed length that expands from 5 to 8 feet automatically when the rear seats are folded down. This gives the VF Wild the largest bed in its segment. The expanding bed enhances the vehicle’s versatility for work and play. Additionally, the design includes a panoramic glass roof and digital side mirrors to improve aerodynamics.

Electric Pickup Truck Market Aspirations

Ms. Tran Mai Hoa, Deputy CEO of Sales and Marketing, VinFast Global, shared: “We are very proud to introduce the VF Wild concept, which encapsulates our mission to make sustainable, high-quality electric vehicles accessible to a broader market. This is not just a new product in our offering – it showcases our aspiration to venture into the fast-paced and thriving electric pickup truck market.”

About VinFast

VinFast, established in 2017, owns a state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam. This facility boasts up to 90 percent automation. The company recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its new 1,800-acre EV factory in North Carolina. This is notable in part because it’s the first EV factory in the state. It will include production and assembly areas as well as supplementary supplier businesses. VinFast says the factory is designed to produce 150,000 vehicles yearly in Phase 1. Production is expected to begin in 2025. Additionally, VinFast is accelerating its business and brand recognition in the U.S. One part of its plan is by expanding its retail store and service center system. Another part is by organizing local test drives of VinFast vehicles and by displaying its products at events throughout California. As of November 2023, VinFast has received 70 dealer applications in the U.S.

The Bottom Line

When the VinFast VF Wild goes into production, it’ll go head to head with the likes of the upcoming all-electric Fisker Alaska and Rivian R1T. VF Wild details are currently minimal, but we’ll have more info as it becomes available.
