The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro is an exquisite example of how great the muscle car era was when it began. There’s a good reason why it’s one of the go-to iterations of the muscle car when it comes to restoration projects, and the “Apocolypse” Camaro is a prime example of this. This thing is spectacular, starting as a Classic Hotrod build with a Chris Alton chassis and eventually becoming a family-build project that would inevitably place an LT5 engine under the hood.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro With LT5 Engine: Details

The 1969 Camaro then became a family project retaining some original project implementations, featuring a Strange Engineering Fab 9 rear end and Barry Controls Shock Absorbers. From there, two separate shops took on the project; Tony’s Hot Rod Shop undertook the exterior work for the car, while Keglers Kustoms did the interior. The husband and wife who own this beautiful example of a restored 1969 Chevy Camaro worked closely with these shops to ensure their project took the form they had envisioned.

1969 LT5 Chevrolet Camaro

As for the crown jewel of this Chevy Camaro build, under the hood sits an LT5 6.2L V8 crate engine, which was what could be found exclusively under the hood of the C7 ZR1 Corvette, before briefly becoming available as a crate engine (sadly, no longer). The the stock version of the LT5 engine is capable of producing 755 horsepower, some modifications this motor could produce well over 800 horsepower without breaking a sweat. Sending power to the wheels is a tried-and-true Tremec T56 manual transmission, which features a dual-clutch system, giving the car a smoother driving experience when accelerating through the gears.

The car’s exterior paint job was built with a dual-part series in mind. The family has a second project in the works, and the decision to put a dual stripe on the left side of the car was made by one of the kids, which would then match nicely with the second car to sit beside it in the garage, with the same stripe on the right side instead. Overall, this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro build is fantastic, and it shows that all you need to piece together your dream car is passion, and the rest of the pieces will eventually slide into place.
