The Ford Mustang GT3 is an epic creation made through the partnership between Ford Performance and its partner Multimatic to build one spectacular race car. Though the 2024 racing season has only just begun, the vehicle’s appearance last year suggests it’s already a success. Production for the Mustang GT3 is ramping up as interest levels are “very high” from prospective customers worldwide.

Ford Mustang GT3 Production: Details

According to SportsCar365, several people will receive GT3 Mustangs to race this year, but not all will be for the entire season. The liveries we saw a few weeks ago will be the only cars dedicated to a full racing season. That includes the LMGT3 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the single-car IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entry, and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS squad Dynamic GT.

Due to the risk, Multimatic was limited to the number of cars they could build for the entire 2024 season. If they built too many cars early and then found out there was an issue, that could seriously hinder the success of the Mustang GT3. Not to mention, production for the GT3 was pushed back from mid-June to mid-October last year due to an issue that turned out to be “nothing.” But that delay in production meant fewer cars to start the racing season. But that’s not about to stop Ford and Multimatic as more customer cars are currently being constructed.

Ford is waiting until this Fall to start cranking out even more Mustang GT3s, which should give the cars that have been built plenty of time for testing to ensure everything works as ideally as possible. Vice President of Multimatic’s Special Vehicle Operations, Larry Holt, has stated that they currently have between 45-50 “serious” inquiries for the Mustang GT3, so we could see a serious influx of Mustang race cars coming in the future. Since these cars are sold worldwide, that means racing fans everywhere should have the chance to see these cars in action.
