Nearly two years ago, Ringbrothers unveiled the Strode 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. As a follow-up to the Valkyrja build from 2019, the even more powerful Strode shares next to nothing with the original car. Only two parts from the entire build are from the original Camaro. Now, the car is getting more love as it cruises around the streets of L.A. with Jay Leno behind the wheel.

Jay Leno Drives The Ringbrothers Strode Camaro: Details

Starting with a stock 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, Ringbrothers stripped the car of its body panels and, with the help of computers, machined all the molds for the new body panels. They then laid carbon fiber by hand into those molds, which shaved 150 pounds from the overall vehicle. A hand-built roll cage runs along the top of the windshield inside the cabin. As Leno pointed out in the video, the subtle integration means it doesn’t take away from the space.

Orange-tan, pleated leather dawns the bucket seats, dashboard, console, door cards, and even part of the door sills. It even covers the exposed fuel tank, which has been placed inside the trunk. Dakota Digital gauges nod to the original design of the gauges from way back when, and the cue-ball shifter is another retro touch for the car. All this makes for a luxurious interior for a beloved muscle car that would have never had such exquisite finishes back in the 60s, but it looks breathtaking.

With an LS3 built by Wegner Motorsports topped with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger and backed by Tremec T-56 six-speed manual. This combination gives the muscle car over 1,000 horsepower. However, the video’s engine boost has been turned down to give it a much more manageable 500 hp. Which is still enough to provide some thrill with the car, which Leno believes tips the scales at just 2800 pounds. If you’re looking for a close-up walkaround of the legendary Ringbrothers Strode Camaro with Jay Leno, take 15 minutes to check out the video; it’s time well spent.
